Post-Prime Day laptop deals - some sales still available

No more Prime Day laptop deals? Yes, the dust has settled on Amazon Prime Day 2022; the electric scooter-vans are plugged in to charge, the drones returning to the nest. You can still find some pretty good deals on laptops right now, though - even if they're not Prime Day ones, since other retailers still have sales going too.

Even though Prime Day is over, tons of products are still discounted on Amazon - we like to call this the retail aftermath, where sellers are examining their remaining stock and figuring out which products could still benefit from a cheeky price drop. Read on to see if you can find the best laptop for you.

Our main goal is to help you get a great deal on the best laptop for your own personal needs and budget. Amazon's competitors are running their own sales too, so we're searching through those as well, and if we find anyone beating Amazon on price we'll be sure to include those discounts in this roundup too. Whether you're looking for the best gaming laptop or even the best MacBook (though don't expect any deals quite yet on the new M2 models), we've got you covered.

Remember, you do need to have an Amazon Prime subscription to see the best Prime Day laptop deals, but you can still get access by signing up (opens in new tab) to a 30-day free Prime trial. You can cancel this before the 30 days are up to access these discounts without spending a dime.

Amazon Prime Day laptop deals: FAQs

Do you need Amazon Prime for Prime Day laptop deals?

Yep, to shop the 'official' Prime Day laptop deals at Amazon you'll need to be signed up to Amazon Prime. As always, the retailer reserves its very best deals on the day for those who are signed up for the service. The good news is that you can nab an Amazon Prime free trial just before the sales start, which will give you full access over Prime Day free of charge - just don't forget to cancel!

(opens in new tab)

Get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime (opens in new tab)
You can still grab a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime. You'll get the same benefits as paid members: free delivery, early access to lightning deals, plus video streaming, music, Prime gaming and more. You can cancel at any time during the trial. After 30 days, Prime will cost $12.99/£7.99 per month.

It's also worth remembering that, while Prime Day laptop deals will only be taking place at Amazon officially, there will be plenty of other retailers looking to get in on the action. Best Buy, Walmart, Dell, HP, and Currys are just a few excellent alternate retailers to check out over Prime Day. More importantly, most of these non-Amazon laptop deals won't require any form of membership, unlike the Prime Day deals.

Amazon Prime Day laptop deals: what to expect

Aside from Black Friday or Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime Day is perhaps the biggest online sale event of the year. Interestingly, the event has gotten so large now that you can expect plenty other retailers - not just Amazon - to be price matching or even offering their own laptop deals over the two-day event.

In regards to price cuts, regardless of whether you're looking for a super basic machine for daily streaming and browsing or a high-end ultrabook, we're expecting some of the best prices all year to fall over Amazon Prime. As you'd imagine with a category as vast and deep as laptops, there's not one particular model or type of machine that stands out as being exclusively tied to Prime Day as a good buy.

There are a few exceptions to this, however. Amazon tends to offer the best prices on Apple laptops, so if you're on the hunt for a MacBook Air or Pro then it's definitely worth checking in over Prime Day. HP and Dell are also great choices if you're looking for a Windows laptop in the lower to mid-price brackets. Walmart, Best Buy, and Currys also do great cheaper Windows laptops as well as some of the cheapest Chromebooks you'll find anywhere.

M1 MacBook Air (256GB): £999 £893 at Amazon
Save £100 -
Amazon is offering the M1 MacBook Air for just £893 this week. While we did see an extra £30 off in previous flash sales, this is still a fantastic offer that goes beyond Amazon's usual £50 discount. You're getting the entry-level 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD configuration here, with Apple's monster M1 chip at the helm.

ASUS TUF Blue A15: £999£829 at PC World
Save £170 -
A tidily built gaming laptop, this ASUS number features a 15.6-inch FHD 144Hz display, powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor and GTX 1660Ti GPU. It's just a shame that it's all paired with only 8GB of RAM.
